FOREWORDFROMTHEDIRECTOR SHEQ Foundation Ghana is an independent nongovernmental, not-for-profit industry wide organization whose aim is to promote improvements in SHEQ practices of all industries. SHEQ Foundation was established in Jan 2011 and is working on developing HSE programs to increase knowledge, awareness and skills amongst all industries in Ghana. Besides educating, we also try and work closely with the authorities and unions to promote leadership in HSE. Accidents and cases of work related ill health can happen in both the public, private and voluntary sectors and ignorance of the relevant legislative requirement or best practice in the area concerned is no excuse. Everyone has a part to play in improving health and safety standards at work. As an employer you are responsible for the management and control of risk in your workplace.   During the last 5 years SHEQ FOUNDATION has been active using various means to meet our vision and mission statement. These include the following:

Workshop on World Safety Day in Tema SHEQ Passports SHEQ awareness campaigns in schools and

polytechnics Monthly newsletter covering various SHEQ topics Annual West African Safety, Health, Environment and

Quality (WASHEQ) Conference, Exhibition and Awards

Presentation on SHEQ issues distributed via social media to our members and partners

Raising awareness of the importance of workplace health and safety is not just the role of SHEQ FOUNDATION. All Ghanaians go to some type of workplace every day and deserve that the workplace be safe. This brief report outlines some of the key activities that have taken place over the last 5 years and how we intend to achieve the strategic objectives we have set for the next 5 years.

In the plan we have set ourselves 5 ambitious long-term goals which we believe are key to achieving our vision of improving the culture of SHEQ in all industries in Ghana and beyond. It is also my pleasure to extend thanks and gratitude to our numerous supporters and partners who ensured that our plans and programs were successfully carried out. In no particular order I mention the following companies, TULLOW Oil, MODEC, CARES, SMTS and AEL mining.
