Video Title: THE SMITHS (THE DIVISION – MY BAND NAME) Girlfriend in a Coma.

1. 0:00 – 0:30 – LONG SHOT of male character walking down a pathway in a park, unfocused shot with title of the song in white text, gradually becomes in focus and title credits dissolve. SPECIAL FX INCLUDE, A BLUE COLOLUR OVERLAY TO GIVE THE MUSIC VIDEO AN ATMOSPHERIC DREAMLIKE FEEL TOWARDS IT.A DISSOLVE OF THE TITLE CREDITS IS EFFECTIVE IN CREATING ANOTHER ATMOSPHERIC FEELING TOWARDS THE MUSIC VIDEO. The visual effects of the music video is the DISORT effect on all the footage to create a home movie style piece of footage, as well as the effect of the frame on the music video, making it look as if it’s being projected onto a screen. WIDE ESTABLISHING SHOT of male character stood at the park waiting, looking down at his phone. CLOSE UP SHOT of male character’s profile, PANS across to an eyeline match. CRANE shot of the couple holding hands. TRACKING SHOT of the couple walking up the bridge together, camera is shaky and so a HANDHELD camera is used to create disorientation and to forebode the future events. HANDHELD camera pans across to CLOSE UP of male character’s face. WIDE ESTABLISHING SHOT of two character’s walking up to his house, PANS to follow them as they walk up towards the front door. MEDIUM SHOT of the male and female characters stood infront of the door, with the male character clutching tulips behind his back.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LASTS UNTIL

0:09 SECONDS IN TO THE VIDEO.

2. 0:30 – 1:00 – MEDIUM SHOT of the couple walking into the home. CUT to a MEDIUM SHOT of the couple stood together as he hands her some flowers to signify their relationship involvement. ARTIFICIAL ZOOM in to the face of the girl as she receives the flowers for a REACTION SHOT. CUT TO CLOSE UP SHOT of the couple sat together on the sofa watching Casablanca in order to establish the romantic aspect of the relationship. MEDIUM SHOT of the couple playing monopoly together, the main focus of the shot is the male character to highlight and foreshadow the fact that he is alone. CUT TO MEDIUM SHOT of the couple playing Monopoly together, this is to establish that she is there present in the shot. LONG SHOT of the couple sat together on the bed taking a selfie, the shot is filmed from behind in order to make it clear the couple are taking an intimate photo of their relationship together, the camera ARTIFICIALLY ZOOMS in towards the screen of the phone. CUT TO a CLOSE UP SHOT of the back of the male character’s head

A SHOT OF THE MALE CHARACTER IN A

GRAYSCALE OVERLAY SHOWS HOW HE

HAS ACTUALLY BEEN REFLECTING OF

THESE EVENTS INSIDE HIS HEAD.

THERE IS A REWIND OF THE EVENTS

THAT HAVE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED TO

SHOW THE DISMANTLED NATURE OF

THE CHARACTER’S MIND.

THE COUPLE ARE THEN SEEN SAT

TOGETHER ON THE BENCH, ONLY FOR

THERE TO BE A TRANSITION WHERE THE

MALE CHARACTER IS SAT ALONE, THE

PREVIOUS EVENTS OF THE VIDEO ARE

NOW REPLAYED WITH JUST THE MALE

CHARACTER IN THE SHOT

EXPERIENCING THE EVENTS, THIS IS TO

SHOW HOW HE HAS REFLECTED UPON

HIS RELATIONSHIP.

3. 1:00 – 1:30 – REWIND SEQUENCE MEDIUM SHOT of the couple sat playing Monopoly together. ZOOMS OUT of MEDIUM SHOT of the male character playing Monopoly. CUT TO CLOSE UP SHOT of the back of the female and male character’s heads to show them watching the film together again. LONG SHOT of the couple in the home stepping back outside the house. ARTIFICIAL ZOOM OUT of the flowers behind the male character’s back. LONG SHOT of the couple walking back from inside the house down the pathway again. REVERSE TRACKING SHOT of the couple on the bridge looking over the bridge at the lake. CRANE SHOT of the couple’s hands coming undone in the REVERSE sequence. ESTABLISHING WIDE SHOT of the male character stood waiting for the female character. LONG SHOT of the male character walking backwards to further identify the reverse sequence. FADE TO BLACK, EXTREME LONG SHOT of the couple sat together on the bench in the park, CUT TO an EXTREME LONG SHOT of just the male character sat on the bench to signify how he is isolated and alone. LONG TRACKING SHOT of the male character walking up the bridge alone this sequence is intended to show how the character’s relationship is nonexistent now and how he revisits the places they were previously seen at to reflect on their relationship.

4. 1:30 – 2:00 – LONG SHOT of the male character walking up the pathway towards his house alone. CUT TO MEDIUM SHOT of male character stood outside holding the flowers in his hands behind his back, with an ARTIFICIAL ZOOM in on the flowers to be symbolic of their relationship. TILTED ANGLE SHOT of the male character holding out the flowers for them to drop on the floor where the camera TILTS forward and ARITIFICIALLY ZOOMS in on the flowers on the floor to be symbolic of the breakdown of their relationship. OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT of the male character holding up a photograph the couple had taken previously, which with the ARTIFICIAL ZOOM reveals that the only person in the photograph is the male character. CLOSE UP SHOT of the male character making DIRECT ADDRESS with the audience.

THE FINAL SCENES SHOW THE MALE

CHARACTER LOOKING WISTFULLY AT

THE PHOTOGRAPH THE AUDIENCE SAW

HIM TAKE WITH THE FEMALE

CHARACTER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE

NARRATIVE. HE IS POINTING CONFUSED

AND BAFFLED AT WHERE THE FEMALE

CHARACTER’S FACE SHOULD BE.
