SCIENCE, A GOOD FRIEND AND A SERVANT

Good morning one and all,

Today, on this world science day, I am here to share my ideas with you about the science, which can be called both a good friend as well as a good servant to us.

So what is science? Definitions are not capable of defining science because the horizons of science are ever expanding. The word "science" probably brings to mind many different pictures: a fat textbook, white lab coats and microscopes, an astronomer peering through a telescope, a naturalist in the rainforest, Einstein's equations scribbled on a chalkboard, the launch of the space shuttle, bubbling beakers etc... All of those images reflect some aspect of science, but none of them

provides a full picture because science has so many facets. Any way we can say that Science is a way

of understanding the world. It is a technique. It is an explanation. It is a powerful tool which can be used for the goodness of mankind. But this tool can also become a weapon causing mass destruction for example nuclear weapons.

On the positive side, the knowledge generated by science is powerful and reliable. It can be used to develop new technologies, treat diseases, and deal with many other sorts of problems. It has been helping us to explore some of the truths of the universe. Development of technology has made the life of human very comfortable. They help him to get transported even in a speed equivalent to that of sound and to communicate to any part of the earth. We cannot imagine of a life without the great science of medicine in the modern world where many diseases prevail. The three great sciences of chemistry, physics and biology are combined together to uplift human so that nothing remain impossible to them.

So science will remain as a good friend and servant if it is not used as a weapon for destruction. We citizens, should be aware of this and should always try to use the science for the positive purposes.
