Really? Don’t you work hard to impress upon students the need to borrow and
to cite others’ work? Shouldn’t you know the best methods
for borrowing, crediting, and building on materials that others openly share?
And isn’t it possible that your students will be using OER in their academic lives?
5. YES, YES, YES, and YES
Learning the use of OER is a lot of work.But I will save time overall.
I won’t be able to say I wasn’t 100% sure if I needed to check the license on that picture I just borrowed.I always felt a bit sheepish using that excuse.
OER sets me up to move even more of what I do online—and I don’t think I will ever believe that online learning is as good as F2F.Students like to be online, they will be there with or without me, and OER materials will make that experience more effective—especially since my own approach has not done enough to incorporate videos and images
