After closing indefinitely in May 2013; Sankeys Manchester reopened its doors to clubbers in

December. The club closed due to financial difficulties that have now been resolved by finding a new

owner for the club meaning the Manchester venue will be open for its 20th year. Formerly known as

Sankeys soap, the club opened in 1994 and has been at the forefront of underground music ever

since. The previous owner David Vincent says that Sankeys is not so much about the money but

more about running an artistic business which is why it took so long to find a new owner. I asked

some students that went to the opening party what they thought about the club. “Sankeys is by far

the best club in Manchester; it even knocks the warehouse project off the top spot”… “The opening

party was a perfect night, the music, the people and the venue were all amazing”… “The atmosphere

inside the club is like no other, everyone is there purely for the music and to have a good time” So
