Samuel Tawa: Top Secrets to College Success

After spending four years in high school doing everything you could to ensure your acceptance to college, it is important to do whatever it takes to succeed once you get there. Samuel Tawa is a student at the University of Massachusetts, who is continuing his high school success as a physics major. Here are some of the top tips to help you succeed at college.

1. You have to take control of your actions. Once you are in college, you won't have someone telling you what to do. Take responsibility for your education by going to class, doing the homework, and getting your assignments in on time.

2. You have to adjust your attention span. You've become used to getting your content, in short, entertaining blasts thanks to sites like YouTube and Twitter. However, college classes tend to consist of a fifty-minute lecture that is divided into two or more segments. You need to retrain your attention span to process long units of content.

3.Plan your study time. Most of the work you do in college is completed outside the classroom. This usually means that for every one hour of lecture, youll have two hours of preparation. As soon as classes start, find a quiet place to study and plan your study time.
