Institutional workshops
• Aim: Train staff to develop their own Institutional ICT Policy- and Master Plan
• Method:– Use exisiting (strategy) documents where possible: internal and
external– Lectures + assignments
• Outcomes at the end of the workshop:– Outline for Policy Plan– Plan how to compile ICT Policy Plan– Realistic aims for ICT Master Plan– Major threats to implementation identified
Workshop outcomes: similarities
• All seven institutions are at about the same overall ICT development stage – Early Expansion
• Emphasis on technical infrastructure, and less on knowledge development and ICT governance
• Very high ICT ambitions• Not always backed up by ‘past performance’• Top-3 challenges for effective and efficient ICT
implementation
Differences between universities
• Quantity and quality of ICT staff• Experience with (first) implementation of
administrative systems• Extent to which ICT was actively part of the
BPR process
