A resource is any physical material constituting part of Earth that people need and value.

Natural material become resources when humans value these.

The uses and values of resources change from time to time.

These are also known as the living resources. These are the renewable resources and include the plants and animals. The foods, sugars, tea, coffee, medicines are obtained from the plants. The timber is obtained from the tress and is used for the construction, furniture, ships, poles and radio. The wood pulp forms different types of paper. The gums, wool, acetic acid, alcohol, and dry fruits are obtained from the trees.

NON –RENUABLE RESOURCE exist in finite amount and cannot be replaced by nature or replaced in a long period of time for example; coal, oil and diamonds.

Potential resources are those whose entire quantity may not be known and these are not being used at present.

These resources could be used in future. The level of technology we have at present may not be advanced enough to easily utilize these resources . E g- windmill

Resource that are already being utilized by humans are called Actual Resources.

Coal, Petroleum, Uranium- etc fall into the category of Actual Resource.

Actual Resource are not fully exploited as the limitation in the available technologies make them un –economical.

AGRICULTURE RESOURCES include all crops like cereals, grains and fibre crops such as jute ,cotton are examples of agriculture crops.

Nearly 70% of population is dependent on agricultural activities. Making it important occupation.

Agriculture is dependent on rain irrigation and poor quality of seeds.

• Animal resource such as milk , meat etc are called as pastoral resource .

• Animals help human’s in agriculture and other activities.

• Farmers are reliable on animals like ox and bull to farm.

Minerals include— Iron, Copper, Coal, Gold etc.

These are the natural resources which cannot be renewed.

They are present in the organisms as an organic and inorganic molecule and ions.

manganese, aluminum, cobalt, iron and chromium can work till 2500 A.D.  

We must also use these resources wisely.
