Carol J Clover – Final girl theory – from this poster the audience can see that the stereotype of a female character being scared on her own will be apparent at some point in the film. The font can often be used to define a genre – this font is very intriguing to the eye of the audience The title in this case makes the audience think that there is someone or something strange/ out of the ordinary like Lighting – the lack of lighting in this mid shot leaves the audience to wonder what is lurking in the dark – low key lighting is stereotypical of a horror. The low key lighting could also be used to show the archetype of a female being weak and vulnerable. Sometimes advertising the main characters in a film draws the audience in – especially if it is a genre they are not normally seen in or even one that they associated with.

How this links to our film … We are going to subvert Carol J Clovers theory and change it to a final guy with in our film, this is anthropomorphic because the male character will be the character who is under threat. Jung’s theory states that ‘Anima archetypes have elements of bi – sexuality’ .Stereotypically a bi – sexual male character will be seen to be weaker then a heterosexual male – this theory would link to our protagonist because of the fear he is seen to be showing whilst home alone, an archetype of a female is that they are vulnerable and weak – he will be shown to have elements of these traits.
