ReptilesBy: Ms. Squire
IntroductionImagine a small forest
full of giant trees and gentle rain, hearing the muffled roars and squeaks. You notice a strange leaf and a strange sound, except it’s not a leaf, it’s a snake. Reptiles are all over the world and the descendants of the prehistoric dinosaurs. People usually see them as a pest or a pain-inflicter, but they are not just that...
Types of ReptilesSnake-python, viper, cobra, and
etc.
Turtle-box turtle, snapping turtle, and etc.
Lizard-bearded dragon, chameleon, iguana, and etc.
Dinosaur-t-rex, spinosaurus, raptor, and etc.
Crocodile
Alligator
Gecko-common, tropical, and etc.
Skink-blue tongue, blue tail, five-line, and etc.
TraitsVertebrates (have backbone)
Completely covered in scales
Cold-blooded
Produce shelled eggs or live young (rarely live young)
Fertilize eggs internally
Each have at least one lung
Behaviors
Heat-seeking (after meal to help digest)
Security-seeking (hide in burrow/go on tall object)
Noise-making (mating/self defense)
Conclusion
From the previous slides, you can see that reptiles aren’t just creatures that were supposed to be dead hundreds of years ago. They actually are quite diverse, intelligent animals. What reptiles are and do is the same as some fish, mammals, and even birds.
