a flash flood is a sudden flood that occurs when floodwater rise rapidly

without warning within several hours of an intense rain. They often occur after

intense rainfall from slow moving thunderstorms. In narrow, canyons and

valleys, floodwaters flow faster than on flatter ground and can be quite

destructive.

Banjir bandang datang tiba-tiba sat air bah datang dengan aliran

deras tanpa peringatan kecil beberapa jam sebelum hujan datang. Biasanya

hujan lebat datang setelah adanya angin topan dan guntur. Di perbatasan

jurang dan bukit air banjir mengalir lebih cepat daripada di dataran biasa.

during floods. We should move to higher ground, like the highest floor of your

home, and avoid areas subject to a sudden flood like low spots and canyons.

Do not attempt to drive through a flooded road. The depth of the water is not

obvious and the road may be washed away. If your car stalls, leave it or ask

people to push it to higher ground. We mus be cautious at night, because its

harder to see flood dangers. If we are told to evacuate, we must do so

immediately.

Banjir dapat mengakibatkan bencana besar. Ada yang bisa kita

lakukan saat banjir datang. Kita harus berpindah ke tempat yang lebih tinggi,

seperti lantai teratas di rumah anda, dan menghindari dataran rendah seperti

jurang. Jangan menyetir di jalan-jalan yang dialir banjir. Datangnya air tidak

bisa diprediksi dan dapat menenggelamkan jalan. Bila mobil anda mogok,

pergilah atau meminta orang untuk membantu memindahkannya ke tempat

yang lebih tinggi. Kita harus waspada saat malam hari, karena sulit untuk
