What is RefWorks?

- “RefWorks is an online research management, writing and collaboration tool”.

- It is designed to help researchers gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies”.

3 Steps to using RefWorksStep 1: Creating Your Personal Database• Importing data directly from Google Scholar• Importing data from the Library Catalogue within RefWorks• Importing data from online databases• Adding references manually• Using RefGrab it to import URL and access dates

Step 2: Writing your paper using Refernces from your database• Using Write-N-Cite and Using OneLine/Cite CiteView• Using One Line/Cite View

Accessing RefWorks1. Go to Learning Resources (www.lr.mdx.ac.uk)

2. Go to ‘Electronic Resources’

3. Select ‘Databases’

4. Go to ‘R’ and select ‘RefWorks’ which is an Athens authenticated resource

The first time you use RefWorks, you will be asked to register. If you are prompted for a Group Code, the code for Middlesex University is RWMiddlesexU

5. Once you have registered, you are ready to use RefWorks
