ARE THERE ANY POTENTIAL THAT COULD POSE A HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK WHERE YOUR PHOTOSHOOT WILL TAKE PLACE? WHAT WILL YOU DO TO ENSURE THESE RISKS ARE

MINIMIZED?

I have chosen to do my photoshoot in two locations, the Sunderland College photo studio and Barnes Park. In the photography studio I will make sure me and the models won’ bring any food or drink inside the studio. This is because there will be wires and technical equipment and if there is any spillage it could damage equipment. There also might be heavy objects so if they are in the way I will ask a member of staff to help move it because if I drop it I could hurt someone. I have to make sure the lights are secure and have no one leaning on them so it doesn’t fall on the model. In the park there could be hazards especially if it has been raining because that means it could be slippery outside and the model or I could injure ourselves. To prevent this we will have to be more cautious about our surroundings. In the park there is a wildlife such as squirrels and rabbits, this could be a health hazard because if they get freaked out they may attack, so to prevent this me and the model will have to be quiet and try and not disturb the animals. I will also have to be careful about the people around me as well as the model and myself because it is a public area.

WILL THE TIME OF DAY/ WEATHER AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF YOUR PHOTOS?

The Images I take at the park could definitely affect my photographs because these will be taken outside. I am planning to take my photographs in the early afternoon because if I take the photos on the night the lighting will be really bad and my images won’t be good quality. I feel like going to the park in the afternoon and take photos then will give my model enough time to prep and get all of her clothes and props sorted. I am also going to look at the weather forecast so then I won’t be planning to go on a day when it is going to rain because then I won’t be able to take images because it may damage the camera. I will plan to go on a day where it isn’t to bright and not to dull because my magazine will be an Autumn issue and a sunny day may ruin that affect and it could affect the lighting on my camera.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE BACKGROUND TO YOUR PHOTOS, PARTICULARLY IF TAKEN OUTSIDE? HOW WILL

YOU ENSURE YOU WILL GET THE BACKGROUND YOU WANT?

In the park I want to explore the park to find some good locations to take my images. I have an idea in my head which is I want to get the autumn colours involved So I want to take images near some trees with the orange, brown and green leaves on the floor. I want my model to be in nature shots so people can see the autumn theme more clear outside. This is because in the photography studio I can get good images of the models wearing warm clothes but the theme might not be put across clearly.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED LIGHTING? WHAT ABOUT THE ‘PROBLEMS’ OF NATURAL

LIGHTING?I have definitely considered the lighting outdoors because I will be using natural lighting. The problem with natural lighting is that it can be unpredictable as it depends on the weather because it could be really sunny which could effect the photos as it may seem too bright. If it is dark and cloudy it might be difficult as the photos may come across as dark. To get some good pictures I am using a Nikon D60 camera this will help me get some good pictures as it is a professional camera. There is a lenses which can help me zoom in and out and there is a built in flash to make the images more sharper and will help if it is really dark outside. There are editing features on the camera which can help me retouch my images.

DO YOU NEED PERMISSION TO TAKE PHOTOS IN THE PLACE/VENUE YOU HAVE IN

MIND?For the photography studio I am going to need to book a day and time as it is used by the photography students in the college but it can be available to anyone as long as you book a day and time. I will not need to permission to take images in the park as it is a public area, but I am going to have to make sure to just get images of my model and watch for passers by so I do not get them in my shot because they probably won’t want to be in the shot. I will go and take images at less public places in the park where there is not much people so most likely the nature walks. It is a big park so there will be places which won’t have as many people.

DO YOU NEED TO BOOK TIME IN A ROOM?I am going to need to book a time for the photography studio as it is in the Visual Performing Arts building and there are many photography students who may need to use the room. I will need to book a day and time which is best for me and my models because they won’t be available everyday so I am going to message them and ask what the best possible days are for them.

ARE OTHER PEOPLE/CROWDS LIKELY TO BE AN ISSUE FOR YOU? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

TO ENSURE THAT IT WILL NOT SPOIL THE EFFECT?

People and crowds are big issue for taking images in the park as there is usually a lot of people in the public park. To prevent the crowds from spoiling the effect of my images I am going to walk around the area and find areas in the park where there is not that many or no people around. When there is no one in the background walking by I will take my images and wait if someone needs to get passed. This will probably make my model more at ease because then no one will be watching her whilst walking by. If there is people walking by and watching me take images of my model it might make them uncomfortable which may come across in the images which could spoil the effect of my magazine.

ARE YOU RELIANT ON LIFTS/PROPS/FRIENDS’ EQUIPMENT/MODELS?

Overall I am very confident in my models on getting to the locations because both locations are very close to each other and as my models are college students they go to that college five days a week so they know where the location is and they know how to get there. All they need to do is get a lift or a bus to the location as it isn’t that far from where they live. I will message each model to ask to bring the required props that are needed and what type of clothes they need to bring beforehand. I will ask them a couple of days before the photoshoot or the night before so it is fresh in their minds and they have enough time to prepare and get their costumes and props sorted. I am planning on doing my photoshoot on the days that are best for them as they maybe busy with college work.

FINALLY HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT EVERY EVENTUALITY?

Overall I feel like I have covered every problem that could happen and I know in my schedule when I am free to take the photographs I just need to make one final check to know when is the best possible time for my models. This is because they will have a different college timetable and they may be off college a day and be in all day on different days. Getting to the locations is no problem as the models will know where to go and they are both near each other. I will have to keep an eye on the weather forecasts for when I take pictures in the park so I don’t get caught taking pictures in the rain which may damage my camera. Other than that I feel like I have each problem covered with a solution.
