Testing mania
Last 10 years in teaching was the toughest.
NCLB Anti testing act Ed Hersche. Testing ignores content. ‘Achievement gap’ not test score
gap. ‘Background knowledge’ gap. Reading - can or cannot. Too much time in preparation; this
second guesses the content. 90% listening or published
worksheets 7% small group collaboration Reading time links to test scores.-
177 minutes a day.
3 principles of reading achievement.
Smarter we get.1.) Get rid of labeling words (high-

levels evolve
