1. Question 7: Looking Back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
2. F R O N T C O V E R o Bad quality photo. Taken with my
phone. o Didnt use photo shop on the image only used phone editing
tools. Not good quality. o No eye contact with any of the three
models. o To many different fonts. Makes the page look confused.
Draws attention away from the image. o There are not many
Coverlines/Kickers only lots of headings.
3. o I have learnt how to conduct successful research in order
to understand the conventions. o I also learnt how to use Photoshop
to edit my photos to give them a more professional look. o In one
lesson I learnt how to use a professional camera and light box to
make my photos appear more flawless an of a better quality than
using a phone. o I learnt the importance of choosing the right font
for your magazine to make the writing stand out but also not draw
to much attention away from the rest of the cover. o I used the
picture of my models body facing directly out of the magazine to
create a small connection with the reader but I didnt want the
model looking out as well because I wanted to give the picture some
mystery.
4. C O N T E N T S P A G E o Most of the images are of art work
and all a quite busy. Theres no diversity and they steel focus from
the list of articles featured in this magazine. o No natural eye
flow because the editorial pillars arent aligned. o No page numbers
to tell us where in the magazine each article is. o To confusing
with the different fonts.
5. o I have gained a lot of knowledge of content page
conventions. o I learnt that have a plain background is
conventional and gives the TOC a more professional look. o I also
learnt the importance of varying photo sizes angles and shots. o I
used four different images in my TOC. The largest image was a
preview for the Double Page Spread. I also have two medium sized
images, one is an advertisement and the other is also a preview to
an article. o Aligned Editorial pillars, help natural eyeflow. o
Images correlate to the articles through the Page Numbers. o
Leading text enables readers to know about the articles in more
depth. o I used a different range of shots for the images to make
it more dynamic During course of making this product I have learnt
a lot about the media conventions and how difficult it is to create
something new / fresh that still fits to the conventions so it is
more likely to be a successful product.
