ContinuityMy group and I purposely ensured there was an element of continuity throughout all products in order to ensure that the audience can make links between the all the products. This was achieved by combining similar aspects within our music video, magazine advert and digipak. An example of this is the theme of ‘X’s, we gave the artist an uncommon name beginning with X to link with the breaking of hearts.

Additionally, we tried to keep aspects from the mis-en-scene running through out the products, for example we used cardboard cut outs for props to create a cartoon theme. We then tried to incorporate this into the digipak and magazine advert, because its typical of the pop genre to see continuity throughout. We reinforced theses themes because we want to the audience to understand and appreciate the meaning and narrative behind the song.

We wanted out artist to be unique and original but still had to fit the conventions of a pop artist and its typical image in order to reach our target audience. We achieved this through keeping continuity throughout the products.

Similarities• We made sure that in the video, magazine advert and digipak that the artist was always dressed identically this is to ensure continuity and prevent the products from looking untidy.

• We also kept the same location through out shooting, we kept a plain background to allow us to use the lighting to our advantage, when the artist sings the chorus it always features coloured lighting, which incorporated into the ancillary products photo shoot.

Creating unity between all products

• We always ensured that our choice of costumes, camera angles, photos used were eligible for a connection between the product and target audience as we were branding him to be a typical male pop artist.

• Given we choose the genre of pop after much research we found artist regularly used there faces as there branding. This is because they themselves are a product alongside there numerous albums and merchandise.

• Incorporating QR codes and social network brands not only adds authenticity but shows our artist is contemporary.
