Any Comments on MOOCs?

• Difficulty in joining well-known platforms • Not ready to tackle sustainability challenge with MOOCs • MOOCs will be one of the lasting innovations in OE and online pedagogy in the future. It helps university to benchmark its quality of services with the prominent university globally.

• MOOCs will serve as important tool for virtual student mobility. • Encouraging all MOOCs use Open licenses will broaden use of OERs across cultures

• Not sure if the MOOC is a long-term solution at this time. Concerned about the hype on MOOCs.

• MOOCs have come to stay, but there is no sustainable business or operational model yet.

Page 31: Qmm sept 22 2015

In 2014, the Open Education Consortium ran an “Open MOOC” pilot project that allowed OEC members to offer openly licensed MOOCs on the edX platform under the OECx shingle. What suggestions do you have to make Open Education Week more effective?

- Get more people to participate- Host a contest (maybe regional)- Enable submission & list events on the website early on

- Organizing events by region would be more effective- Make all presentations downloadable (at once)- More use of social media and blogging- Showcase newcomers (inspirational cases)
