Benchmarking of Best Practices “Best practice benchmarking“ process is used in management

and particularly strategic management, in whichorganizations evaluate various aspects of their processes inrelation to best practice companies' processes, usually withina peer group defined for the purposes of comparison. This then allows organizations to develop plans on how to

make improvements or adapt specific best practices, usuallywith the aim of increasing some aspect of performance.Benchmarking may be a one-off event, but is often treated asa continuous process in which organizations continually seekto improve their practices.

JIT( Just In Time)Toyota Implementation University Implementation The JIT concepts aims to

produce and deliver the rightparts, in the right amount, at theright time using the minimumnecessary resources. This system reduces inventory,

and strives to prevents both earlyand over production. Producing in a JIT fashion

exposes problems quickly.

The time interval betweenplacements, graduation andjoining date should be minimizedso that the student time andbrain is not wasted. Students must be kept busy and

productive. University must provide any

other assistance and thus reducestudent’s dilemma especially infuture making years.

Jidoka ( Build In quality)Toyota Implementation University Implementation

There are two parts to Jidoka – 1) Building in quality at the process 2) Enabling separation of man from

machine in work environments. Jidoka is a Japanese word that

means automatic or automation.TPSaspires for processes that are capableof making intelligent decisions andshutting down automatically at thefirst sign of an abnormal conditionsuch as a defect, or other problem. The goal is not to run continuouslybut in other words to stop runningautomatically when trouble arises.

University must implementcompulsory fixed contact hoursper student to analyze andevaluate their performance. Increased amount to teacher-

student contact hours for weakstudents to help them improvetheir conceptual understandingand performance.

Preference driven communicationprocess has generated: A 200% jump in average campaign

hit rates across customer segments, A 38% improvement in Pizza Hut's

customer retention rate, A 9% increase in customer

visit/purchase frequency in justseven months.

This practice can be implementedin admission procedure ofuniversity by categorizing studentapplications on basis of interests, percentages, strong points, preference ,IQ, EQ and behaviouraltendencies .

These applicants can counselled inan effective manner to choose theircareer stream as they are classified.

Helps university select studentscompatible with universityenvironment.

Ants store For Rainy Days & winters Ants don’t just eat on the spot even

when they see a food, they try tocarry the food to their ant colonyand save-up for the rainy days.

It isn’t wise to keep on spending themoment you see the slightestavailable cash you can spend.

We can never really tell what mighthappen in the future, so having ourreserves-up will surely help us copewith unforeseen things.

This practice can be implementedin university by Keeping some reserve funds aside

for natural calamity Rain water harvesting( storing

water for dry season due toremote location of campus inRajasthan). Having standby sports, scholastic,

science, dance, music etc teamsready and in practice for intercollege competitions.

Lessons LearnedIntegrating Best practices into our system or routines gives the

following results: Improvement in operational capacity Increase in sales and demand Significant increase in efficiency and performance of both

individual and organization Time management ( time saved) or work segmentation Increase in productivity and production Enhances positive competition Measuring benchmarking index of best practices helps us

understand and compare their utility and importance inworking of system.
