The picture above shows an advertisement of a soft drink called Dr. Peppers. I would

categorize this advertisement as an act of prejudice against women as it’s tagline says “it’s

not for women”. As stated in the tagline, clearly classify women as being weaker than

compared to men. Being prejudiced to a certain person or group is to evaluate them

negatively just because they are not of the same group or gender.

Having the tagline saying that “it is not for women” indicates that they have

categorized women as a gender that is weak and lacking in certain characteristics as

compared to men. For example like how the society now uses “ like a girl” to describe

someone when they are not brave enough to complete a certain task. They are indirectly

saying that women have lower tolerance in drinking as well as they are not manly enough to

drink Dr. Peppers. They have believed that women as a weaker gender and have used this

prejudice act to advertise their brand as a brand that is strong and that only real man can drink

this, that is if you’re brave.

Besides that, I also would state that this advertisement is also discriminating the

female gender. This is because they have published their brand with that tagline to the whole

of the United States. It shows prejudice in action. Hundreds of Americans drinks this drink

every single day and the tagline on the can can be seen in a very obvious manner. This tagline

will slowly be absorbed into the society’s brain and they themselves will also discriminate

women. For example, when a men sees a women drinking Dr Pepper, there is a higher chance

that they will voice out saying that it is not a women’s drink. This is caused by the statement

of the tagline and this proves that actions are taken placed to discriminate women due to the

prejudice statement of the tagline.
