Definition
Process that includes the entire educational community.
It spans the whole schooling period and covers all the students.
It is a global process that integrates aspects concerning:• Personal development.• Teaching and learning processes.• Decision making.

Levels of intervention
The work to be developed in the field of Professional and Educational Guidance covers three levels of intervention:
• Tutoring, at the class-group level.
• Guidance Department, at the school level.
• Specific Guidance Team, at the province level.

Guidance DepartamentAreas of work
The functions to be developed by the school’s Guidance Department covers four major areas of work:
• School organisation.
• Tutoring action.
• Attention to diversity.
• And professional and academic guidance.

Guidance Departament Staff members
Head of Department (psychology and/or pedagogy specialist).
Therapeutic pedagogy teacher and, if applicable, audition and language specialist.
A tutor for each of the sociolinguistic and scientific-technological fields.
Other staff members, depending on school type.

Guidance Departament Working tools
Use of: questionnaires, group techniques, interviews, observation, psycho-pedagogic assessment tests, etc.
Implementation and follow-up of programmes such as: cognitive work techniques, reading comprehension, professional and academic guidance, etc.
Carrying out of informative meetings with both students and their families.

Carrying out of coordination meetings with teachers.
Establishment of contacts and coordination with external school services.
And customised guidance and intervention.
