Before creating their final project students will have an understanding of living and non-living organisms and how to identify them.

Students will have been introduced to the story of Thumbelina.

Students will have had hands on experiences with their environment in an educational setting.

Students will take their own mini adventure field trip to the grounds around the school. Students will bring notebooks to draw or take notes on what they see and observe.

The final aspect of the lesson is the art project.
