Presente Simple

El Presente Simple se usa para:● Hablar de hábitos o rutinas:

– I usually wake up at 6 am.

(Yo usualmente me despierto a las 6 am.)

– Ralph smokes one package of cigarettes a day.

(Rafael fuma un paquete de cigarrillos por día.)

● Hablar de verdades generalmente aceptadas:– Caracas is a crowded city.

(Caracas es una ciudad muy poblada.)

● Hablar de situaciones con cierta permanencia en el tiempo:– She lives in Los Teques.(Ella vive en Los Teques.)

– They don't understand me!(¡Ellos no me entienden!)

● También se usa para dar instrucciones o direcciones:– You first fill in this form. Then you come to my office for

the interview.(Primero llena este formulario. Luego viene a mi oficina para

la entrevista.)

● Para expresar acuerdos presentes o futuros:– We have a meeting this afternoon.

(Tenemos una reunión esta tarde.)

Estructuras:● Afirmativa:

Sujeto + Verbo (+ O/C/A)● Negativa:

Sujeto + Do/Does + NOT + Verbo (+ O/C/A) (Don't/Doesn't) [En su forma base]

● Interrogativa:

(Palabra + Do/Does + Sujeto + Verbo (+ O/C/A)Interrogativa) [En su forma base]

1C = Complemento / O = Objeto Directo o Indirecto / A = Adverbio/Frase Adverbial

Ejemplos:● They love horror movies!

(¡Ellos adoran las películas de terror!)

● Susy doesn't like horror movies.

(A Susy no le gustan las películas de terror.)

● I prefer thrillers.

(Yo prefiero películas de suspenso.)

● Do you like thrillers?

(¿A ti te gustan las películas de suspenso?

(Mi hermano y mi mejor amigo van al colegio en la mañana)

● I don't go to school with them. I study in the afternoon.

(Yo no voy al colegio con ellos. Yo estudio en la tarde.)

● Helen doesn't go to any school. She studies at home.

(Helena no va a ningún colegio. Ella estudia en casa.)
