It was in 1990 for the World Cup in Italy, the world learned of a cast of stars called the Three Tenors. 

It was the  Triumvirate formed Luciano Pavarotti with his Spanish colleagues Plácido Domingo and Jose Carreras, and debuted on July 7 of that year in the Roman Baths of Caracalla.
