Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to
the full product?
Dancing animals task…
Since doing my dancing animals task I have learnt a lot about editing on the software Premiere. From this task I learnt how to
cut footage that I didn’t want using the cutting tool and this allowed me to get rid of things like blank screens or blank spaces that weren’t needed. I learnt how to add in transitioning effects and I used these from when we went from one scene to another,
this added fluidity into our film opening. I also learnt how to render the video which made sure that the video didn’t have any
buffering when being watched. I also learnt how to post it onto my you tube channel which then allowed me to copy the video onto
my blog and then evaluate it.
Preliminary Task… Another thing that I learnt was how important it was
to ensure that you were holding the camera in the correct angle to film and also to make sure that the
camera wasn't shaking when filming, this was important because it meant that the footage was of good quality. This was very important when filming our actual film as we was around a swimming pool which meant that we had to be extra careful of the
camera equipment because we didn’t want to damage any of course.
What I've learned... Another thing that I have learned is how important it is to make
sure that you have a well planned out storyboard, this is because when creating our prelim task I felt that our storyboard was not as well thought out as it could have been and this then meant that we didn't really use it when filming because it was not very helpful to us. So then when we created a storyboard for our film we made sure that we thought it through really well, we added the timings on for each shot as well and this
really helped us when we were filming as we knew exactly how long each shot had to last. We also did a voiceover for our
storyboard which helped to explain a bit better to our viewers.
Editing… Editing was another thing that I felt I improved a lot
on in the time between my prelim and my film opening. This is because I learned a lot more skills and techniques with the premiere software. Things such as adding the titles on, adding in effects for
the transitions from scene to scene and also adding sounds on at the correct time. These skills allowed me to make my film opening of a better quality.
Shots… In our preliminary task, some of the shots that we filmed
weren’t the best, this may have been due to bad choice of location or just due to not good filming. When filming our actual film, we made sure that we planned out each shot that we were going to film. When filming we had to make sure that we had checked the weather for that day as this
had a big affect on us, this was because we wanted to make sure that we had good lighting for our film. We
managed to get some lovely shots on a sunny day and this helped us a lot with the quality of our film.
