Preliminary TaskBritney Spears – Baby one more time

Page 2: Preliminary task - Britney Spears

Our task was to recreate a part of an iconic music video. We chose

Britney Spears - baby one more time because it was set in a school and

didn’t involve any props we couldn’t find nearby. We attempted to

recreate the shots one by one in chronological order.

Our Version The Original

We used Rebecca to play Brittney because she has blonde hair similar to the

original. We dressed her in a white shirt and braided her hair into the signature

pigtails Brittney wore in the video. We didn’t have a grey cardigan or fluffy

hairbands to put on her so we decided to continue without them.

Our Version The Original

When taking the different shots of the objects (The clock and the bell) we were not

able to control what they looked like as this is what we had available to us in

school. We were not able to wait until the clock had reached 3:00 so we took it

down and wound it to our desired time.

Our Version The Original

We could not find anybody that looked similar to the teacher in the music video

that was willing to participate in our version. Instead we used a classmate who was

available at the time. We were not able to recreate the natural lighting from the sun

that can be seen in this shot.

For the next shot we went to the nearest bell, 5 minutes before it was supposed to

ring. This is a slightly low angled shot of the bell as they are usually high up on the

wall. Again, the dramatic shadow was something we weren’t able to recreate as

we had no control over the lighting.

This shot shows all the students standing to leave the classroom. In is a low

angled shot. To recreate this we put the camera on the floor and tilted it up slightly

with a few books. Due to the layout of the classroom we could successfully

recreate the division in the rows we see in the original.

This shot was difficult to recreate as we could not achieve the high angle used

here with the tripod and equipment we had. The corridors in our school are not as

wide as those of the original school so we just had to make do with what we had.

This was the last shot we recreated from the original.

If we could do this task again we would plan the shots better. For

example for the last show which was high angled, I would have found a

high chair or. desk to place the tripod onto. For our actress’s costume I

would have found a grey cardigan.

This task has shown me how much detail I must use to plan my final

product and arrange the appropriate props and locations. I will have to

make a list as to not forget anything and draw up a storyboard to guide

the shots.
