• Meet the expectations of a Senior School student
• Demonstrate over a sustained period of time, the qualities outlined in the MLC Prefect Profile. This demonstration must include BOTH action and reflection.

Principled behaviourModel the expectations of a Senior Student in regard
to uniform, pass use, punctuality and participation at compulsory events.

The Prefectship@MLC Schoology Course is where you will find:
• All the resources and information about becoming a prefect, including the Prefect Profile, timeline and application process.
• The place where you will complete your Leadership Reflections which document your growth as a leader.
• Leadership Reflections are a crucial part of your application for Prefectship.
Along your pathway to Prefectship it is vital that you:
• Discuss your leadership journey on a regular basis with your Head of House or Luminary.
• Lead by example for younger students in all areas outlined in the Prefect Profile.
APPLICATION PROCESSMLC SchoolServing Humanity
Applications should be sent to your Head of House before 12pm Friday, Week 4 Term 1 2015.
Students are encouraged to submit applications before this date.
Applications will be made in a similar way to applying for a job.
Each applicant will:• Write a one page Cover Letter, to your Head of House, explaining how
you meet the criteria for Prefectship, as outlined in the MLC Prefect Profile. A scaffold is provided in the Schoology Course to help you in this task.
• Complete a CV (Curriculum Vitae) of your achievements and involvements at MLC School. A scaffold is provided in the Schoology Course to help you in this task.
• Complete the Leadership Reflections outlined on the Schoology Course. These should be completed in an ongoing manner to reflect the growth of your leadership skills.
• Attend a Prefectship interview with a panel that may include Heads of House or other members of the Academic Wellbeing Team.

Questions that may help you write your one page letter:
• Clearly explain why you think you qualify as an MLC Prefect. Refer to the criteria outlined on the Prefect Profile.
• There are many types of leaders and you can demonstrate leadership in a number of ways. Explain what type of leader you are.
• Outline specific examples of your demonstrated leadership over the past twelve months with clear links to how these experiences have helped you to develop a particular Making Leadership Count outcome.
• Discuss how you think you have developed as a leader. What are your greatest achievements? What would you like to develop?
• What have been your greatest challenges in developing your leadership skills? What have you learned?

You will need to complete the reflections and submit them through the drop-box facility on the Schoology Course.
Here are the tasks:.
1. Leadership Self assessment

You can submit these reflections in any form you wish: written documents, voice recordings, video recordings, the choice is yours.
Each reflection should link to your personal leadership goals and growth. Use the outcomes from the Making Leadership Count framework to identify your leadership qualities.

THE INTERVIEWMLC SchoolServing Humanity
• After submitting your application, you will have an interview with a Head of House (usually your own), and another member of the Academic Wellbeing Team.
• The interview will be recorded so that equity can be maintained between Houses, ensuring even standards and fairness in the approval process.
• The questions asked will be directly related to the MLC Prefect Profile.
• You will be notified in writing of the success of your application after all applications have been processed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
MLC SchoolServing Humanity
Q: Do I have to apply for Prefectship?
A: No. All students will be expected to grow their leadership skills as a Senior Student at MLC School. Your Luminary program will contain Leadership activities. All students will have a Prefectship Progress interview and receive a Prefectship Progress Letter.
Q: I am an IB student. Can I count my CAS activities for Prefectship?
A: No. CAS activities are mandatory for IB students. Students should be able to demonstrate sustained commitment to an activity beyond their CAS commitments.
Q: I am not involved in a Service Group. Will I qualify?
A: Every student presents a unique set of leadership experiences and the Prefect Profile is a guide. If you have high level involvement in a particular area and not in another then it will be taken into consideration.
Q: I joined the jersey committee – does that count?
A: No. The jersey committee serves the needs of year 12 only rather than the broader school community.
