Practicalities:

Princess Diaries trailer is an example of a practical trailer for us as A2 media students to create realistically.

It doesn't contain many special effects that we couldn’t use – an example of this is the CGI done by most action films in 2016.

It is made up of shots with dialogue and has cuts throughout, this is easy for us to recreate as we could do this using the DSLR camera and edit the filming on the Premier Pro (software used to create trailers).

It also contains text, credits and a voice over which I could also add to my own trailer.

Practicalities:

The Princess Diaries trailer begins with flashing cameras and some dialogue introducing the character, Mia even before we see her. This is something practical because we could film a scene like this with Riven being introduced and adding a voiceover as such.

The trailer then goes onto identify key words which summarise the movie. There is a male voiceover used but the words fade into the screen on top of scenes which relate – so glamour fading into a kissing scene. This is something practical as we can actually create this.

During the trailer we see that there is a novel like effect. “From the director’s of…”. This is something that attracts me because it makes the genre of film clear and creates a light hearted effect. This is something practical as it is possible to create something like this. The font used for this is also really simple and just blue so ensures that it is quite clear and concise.

Practicalities:

Another key aspect of the Princess Diaries trailer that makes it practical is that the editing of the trailer is simple. Most of the shots and scenes just fade into one another and go after one another coherently. The shots link with one another and conversation is flown over but this is done quite simply. It is however done in line with the voiceover but this is something practical and something that is possible to create.

Finally the trailer is practical because it is similar to the theme and genre of the genre of trailer we are creating. This trailer consists of Anne Hathaway as Mia constantly making clumsy moves and mistakes which has inspired us to do something not as complicated but similar. We will build our character with clumsiness and use the humour of this trailer to inspire ours. This is something practical from it.
