• Portugal was engaged in a civilizing mission during the 5 centuries in which it dominated Africa.

• The history of education in Africa started because of Portugal.

• From the 15 century until the 19 century the

Portuguese presence in Africa was mostly centred in slaves and gold traders, the missionaries were just a few.

• The Portuguese people gave to Africa the religion, art, music and literature.

• The Africans gave us the art (primitive and wild), chilli, coconut, watermelon and coffee (good for our gastronomy).

• Because of the Portuguese people, slavery started in Africa.

• As Portugal nfluenced Africa, Africa helped to create our history.
