Placement Assistance Council
I, through this column, extend a warm welcome to the prospective recruiters of
CLC for the upcoming campus placements, 2016 - 17. With a legacy that spans
over a period of 90 years, CLC is a deep rooted institution that has proven its
academic excellence in the legal field not only in India, but also in Asia. In
consonance with the development and evolution in legal education worldwide,
CLC encourages the supplementation of classroom teaching with extra and co-
curricular activities. Further, it provides students with leadership opportunities
and the space to develop a healthy team spirit. 'Campus Law Centre Law
Review', the law journal of CLC, speaks volumes about the research and writing
capabilities of our students. I take pride in stating that CLC is the alma mater of
various reputed personalities who are now placed in top-ranking law firms,
corporate houses and has also been instrumental in producing numerous
cabinet ministers, senior advocates, chief justices and law officers. Our students,
with their strong foundation of conceptual understanding of legal principles and
with practical exposure through internships in different realms, have always
proven to be valuable assets in whatever capacity they have been recruited in the

About the PlacementAssistance Council
The Placement Assistance Council (PAC) is the official
placement mechanism of the Campus Law Centre (CLC),
which oversees the entire process of recruitment of students.
The PAC is run largely by student volunteers under the
supervision of the Faculty. It works round the year to identify
and liaise with recruiters, collate data of the graduating class
and facilitate the recruitment process for the recruiters. In the
previous years, Reputed Law Firms, Corporate Houses,
PSUs, Banks and Eminent Lawyers have recruited students
from CLC. CLC has an enviable reputation in India. Its
teaching method has ensured that wholesome legal education
is imparted to its students. A number of our alumni adorn the
Bench, Bar and the Corporate Sector.

The Campus Law Centre (CLC) of the Faculty of Law offers a full-time
three year LL.B. programme.
CLC benefits from being an integral part of one of the oldest and most
prestigious Universities of the country. CLC is one of the largest law
colleges in the country with a 1,500 - strong undergraduate student
body. This year we go in to our 92nd year of operation, making us one
of the oldest law colleges in the country.
CLC is a melting pot of diverse backgrounds, with students from
various disciplines meeting to form a vibrant batch. Pedigree and size
are our twin selling points. Morever, our alumni list bears testament to
the role CLC has played in feeding the Delhi Bar and Judiciary, as
well as other avenues for legal professionals all over the country for
decades past. Quality teaching, moot-court competitions, campus
placements, legal-aid services and regular talks and discussions by
experts from the academia and industry are some of the features which
have established CLC as a Centre of Excellence.

Despite the current focus of the Indian Legal education system
on 5-year law schools, CLC has stuck to its 3-year LL.B. course
with conviction. Our students come from various disciplines
from some of the best universities in the country and abroad.

CLC sprawls over 3.5 acres of land.
A large auditorium Air-conditioned seminar hallequipped with a LCD projector
A recently built computer room where studentshave free access to the best research databases suchas Supreme Court Cases, Manupatra, IndLaw,LexisNexis and various e-journals in collaborationwith the University Grants Commission.
A fully air-conditioned and well updated library. Therecently renovated Law Library is CLC’s knowledgehub. Study resources include over 2,00,000 books,National and International journals, magazines, LawReports, LL.M. dissertations and Ph.D. thesis ofpast students.
The main building overlooks lush greenlawns and a canteen which are popular spots forstudents to relax and interact between classes.Diverse facilities are available for sports, recreationand co-curricular activities.
Tradition finds its place on campus with two book stalls which havebeen selling law books to generations of students for over 40 years.

Curriculum andCourse Structure
CLC offers a 3-year LL.B. course after graduation. It is divided into six
semesters. Five papers are taught in each semester and semester
exams are held in December and May. The session begins on July 21
every year. In the second and third years, the students can tailor their
study from within a range of optional subjects, although certain core
subjects remain compulsory in all semesters.
We take pride in the fact that CLC pioneered the adoption of the
Harvard Case Law Method of legal education in India. Students are
provided with comprehensive Case Material in each subject,
incorporating relevant judgments of the Supreme Court of India, the
High Courts, and the Privy Council, as well as cases from England and
other common law jurisdictions, supplemented by essays and readings.
The Case Material is updated by the Faculty every semester and
distributed to all students.

Moot CourtSociety
The Moot Court Society (MCS) is the oldest society of the Campus Law Centreand occupies a place of great importance. Many well established names in thelegal profession today were active members of the MCS during their days inCLC. The MCS aims to help students acquire the skills of research, advocacyand critical thinking. The MCS organizes two internal moot court competitionsyearly - The Common Induction Moot and The Freshers’ Moot. The students soselected are trained and given the opportunity to participate in various Nationaland International Moot Court competitions. The MCS also conducts internalcompetition rounds to appoint the best team for representing Campus LawCentre in prestigious Moot Court competitions. The MCS also organizes theprestigious international K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court Competition.

relating to child labour, juvenile justice, beggars’ courts, domestic violence andRTI. The Legal Aid Society has been divided into groups dealing with ConsumerRights, Juvenile Justice and Child Rights, Slum dwellers and Homeless, Labour,Environment, Gender Sensitisation, etc. This year a Legal Services Clinic hasbeen set up at CLC by the LAS in association with the Delhi Legal ServicesAuthority (DLSA).
The Legal Aid Society (LAS) is one of the mostimportant societies in CLC. The purpose of thesociety is to spread legal awareness and providefree legal services to people in distress and to theunderprivileged. It aims to effectively secure therights of children, women, the poor and themarginalised. While working on the many projectsof the LAS, students develop hands-on understandingof the country’s policy framework, relevant laws,government machinery and perhaps most importantly,how they can work within the system to create legalawareness. 4TH ANNUAL INTER-COLLEGE DEBATE COMPETITION- CONFERO’16The CONFERO, which had its birth in the year 2013, provides a platform to debatersall across the country to enhance their knowledge through exchange of ideas.CONFERO 2016 with its debate topic “Freedom of Speech and Expression Should beAbsolute” was conducted on 31st March 2016 at Campus Law Centre. The format ofthe debate was conventional.

Debate andDiscussion Society
The Debate and Discussion Society is one of the most vibrant societies atCampus Law Centre (CLC). It has three sub- groups viz. discussion, debateand the research group. The aim of the society is to organize discussions,debates and public lectures to foster widespread discussion on topical issues.The discussion group critically analyses important judicial decisions, statutesand bills pending in parliament on various subjects such as constitutional law,criminal law, international law and competition law. The National Debating Panelconsists of the finest debaters in CLC who participate in various debatesconducted in Delhi and other states. The society also invites eminent juristsfrom academic and corporate world for some thought provoking sessions. Theresponse from the students is always overwhelming.

1. PREVENTION OF SEXUAL HARRASMENT COMMITTEE With regard to the Supreme Court Judgment and guidelines issue in 1997 to provide for the effective enforcement of the basic human right of gender equality and guarantee against sexual harassment and abuse, more particularly against sexual harassment at work places, Campus Law Centre has constituted a committee for prevention of sexual harassment.
2. DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS COMMITTEE In order to address the problems of the differently abled students, a committee has been formed in order to provide equal opportunities to them.
3. The LAW JOURNAL EDITORIAL COMMITTEE Oversees the compilation and creation of the Journal of the Campus Law Centre.
4. CLC DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE Looks into the strategic issues pertinent to the maintenance and infrastructure of the college campus.
5. A Students’ Committee that publishes the Campus Law Centre' Student Law Review A students’ journal that is published by the Students’ Union of CLC. It seeks to provide avenues for student research and scholarship.

CLC has long been known for the quality of its teaching faculty. Many of ourpresent and former professors are renowned experts in their fields of study andall our teachers have substantial experience in academia. Many of them haveauthored books and all of them regularly publish in peer-reviewed journals.Further, our faculty members have been advisors to the Government of Indiaand Foreign Countries, as well as inter-governmental agencies, in policy-makingroles. Recruitment Procedure
As a prospective recruiter, you shall be contacted by representative of thePlacement Assistance Council, who will act as your point of contact with us.
STEP ONE: REGISTERTo register, fill in the attached Recruiter Registration Form. The completedform along with the enclosures and registration fee is to be sent to the PACby registered post, courier or email, clcplacements@ gmail.com. Weencourage you to register early. We can arrange for a pre-placement talk ora campus interaction with the students at your request.
We shall post or email to you all CVs matching the criteria as given by youat the time of registration from the domain of students who indicate that theywish to be considered for this particular recruitment. If you do not wish toapply any preliminary selection criteria and would like to consider the entireclass of 2017, we shall be happy to send you the CVs of all the registeredstudents.
We can arrange for interviews to be held at our campus. We shall provideyou with a suitable venue and other facilities you might need. You can holdinterviews at your office in the city as well. Please do keep in mind that asper our recruitment process, a candidate is allowed to accept only one offerof recruitment. Thus, it is to your advantage to opt for an early slot to ensurethat all students you have shortlisted are able to appear in the interview.
After due perusal of the CVs sent to you, you are requested to provide thePAC with a list of students you would like to interview. We request you tosend the list of short listed candidates at the earliest and seek yourco-operation in this regard. GDs / Pre interview tests prior to interview canbe conducted as per your request.
Once you have conducted the interviews, you are required to provide thePAC with a list of students you wish to make an employment offer to. Wealso recommend that you provide us a wait list of 2-3 names to cover theeventuality that a student you have decided to make an offer to, decides notto accept your offer. Both these lists must be given to the PAC following theinterview. Subsequently, we shall inform you about the list of students whohave accepted the offer of employment. After acceptance, you can dealdirectly with the concerned students regarding consequent formalities suchas offer letter, joining date etc.

CLC is the most prestigious of the three Law Centres teaching theLL.B. course under The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. The othertwo centres are called Law Centre I and Law Centre II. Every LawCenter is headed by a Professor-In-Charge and has a high degree ofadministrative autonomy. Post graduate law courses are administereddirectly by the Faculty of Law which is headed by the Dean, Facultyof Law.

1. How is CLC related to the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi?
No.
2. Do you have any connection with the campus placement program operated by the Faculty of Law?
Yes, we have a number of visually challenged and differently abledstudents.
3. Do you cater to students with special needs?
The Placement program at CLC is headed by Professor (Dr.) RamanMittal who works under the supervision of the Professor-in-ChargeProfessor Kamala Sankaran.
