Charles’ Gas LawCharles’ Gas Law shows the relationship between ___________________(T) and ______________________ (V). Charles and Gay-Lussac’s Law was named in honor of the two French scientists who first investigated the relationship. Charles did the original work, which was verif ied by Gay-Lussac.They observed that if the _______________(P) is held constant , the volume wil l increase as the temperature increases and vise versa. This type of relationship is known as a direct relationship .
I l lustrate the generic graph that show this relationship from Site #1 on Learning Point.
Boyle’s Gas LawIn the mid 1600’s, Robert Boyle studied the relationship between the ________________ (P) and _______________(V) of a confined gas held at a constant ________________(T).Boyle observed that as pressure ( the push) on the gas increased, the amount of space the gas occupies ______________________. This is known as an indirect relationship. This relationship between pressure and volume is called Boyle ’s Law in his honor.
I l lustrate the generic graph that show this relationship from Site #2 on Learning Point.
Charles and Boyle’s Gas LawsOn Your Own, access the YouTube videos to view Charles’ and Boyle’s Gas Laws in action.
Using UP and DOWN arrows in the ovals to show what is happening to the gas inside the cyl inder and within the balloons.
