Photography Case StudyMario Testino

Mario Testino was born in lima Peru and always wanted to peruse the carer of a photographer , to do this he moved to the UK in his early 20’s.

He spent his first year as a waiter to finance his photography. H e was in a restaurant when British editors of vogue asked him to submit pieces of his work.

Mario Testino was commissioned to photograph Gucci campaigns in 1995. In 2005 he was highly interested in fashion. E.g. Donna Karan, Versace and Gwyneth (Images relating to his work are below)

He is well known for his royal portraits, he has done a great amount of work in relation to Diana. (Images of his work are below

His father, also Mario, is the son of Italian immigrants and a businessman; his mother, of Spanish and Irish descent, is a housewife whose glamorous style will later influence her son Mario.

This piece of work inspired me because it’s a close up

shot which captures the facial features in great

detail. Her eye for example looks well directed and

portrays a good sense of focus. Her hands on her

ears also add interest to the photograph as it suggests

she’s blocking out her surroundings and telling a story to the camera though

her body language and eyes.

This piece of work inspired me since its illustrating a

feisty female which having looked at a variety of his

work is rare. Its been shot at a mid long angle which

will draw the audience towards the centre point
