I have the tool ‘Levels’ to change the overall exposure of the photograph to appear brighter and more attention-grabbing in order to catch the eye of my target audience. By using ‘Levels’ the colours appear brighter and easier to see. This use of photo manipulation allows the photograph to look better and more professional.

I, again, used the tool ‘Levels’ however this time I also used ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ in order to select the hair alone to change the exposure to appear brighter yet still subtle and sleek. I also found out how to use the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ selectively by using ‘ALT’ to take away selection and ‘SHIFT’ to add.

In order to decrease the intensity of dark shadows and under bags under the model’s eyes, I discovered the use of ‘Curves’ on Photoshop to manipulate the skin near by to replace the discolouration on the under bags. Though attempting to use the ‘Dodge Tool’ and ‘Spot Healing Brush’, I found that ‘Curves’ looked the most natural.

I have used the ‘Spot Healing Tool Brush’ in order to manipulate the photograph of my model. By using the sample spot brush to specifically pin point and erase the look of small blemishes and strands of hair, the overall picture appears more clean cut, fitting with the sophisticated indie-pop look.

I developed my skills further in Photoshop by discovering that selecting on specific areas, which I can do with either the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ or ‘Magic Wand’ tool, I can alter the colours of the picture. By experimenting different colours with ‘Hue/Saturation’, I discovered to like a more deeper version of blue for my model’s eyes.

Using the same method of either ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ or ‘Magic Wand’ tool, I have also decided to manipulate the colour of the model’s lips to create a more colder toned red. I have done this as I believe, from my research, the cooler colours will attract the target audience more by being more aesthetically appealing.
