“The windows of St Brigid are beautiful in design but are too dark for the modern world. People in our day in the USA are afraid to go into dark churches as a matter of fact there is good reason for it. People have been attacked in our churches in the past. I'm sure you can permit more light to enter without taking away from the mastership of design. If you do this you will get much more work for our Irish windows.”
Letter from Rev. Arthur Cantwell to William J. Dowling, 23rd September 1957

“The first three windows have been installed and they are of such beauty of colour and design and workmanship that we are at a loss of words to express our great appreciation of them. Thank you is the most inadequate word to express so much but it is sincerely heartfelt.”
