Turning life around Palash still remembers the sadness he felt when he was denied admission into an NIIT centre in his home town because he did not have enough money to pay the fee. He has come a long way indeed!!! Today, NIIT pays him money for working with them. Born in West Bengal in a family of 7, Palash’s family survived on the salary of his school teacher father. Only 7 when his father passed away, Palash faced removal from school. Luckily, his father’s pension came in and helped complete his graduation. Soon after, Palash came to Delhi to study business management and to ensure he could start earning side by side, he also joined a software certification course from Synergy project run by NIIT in collaboration with Delhi University and CII at Keshavpuram. After completing his course, he was selected by NIIT Technologies for his 2-month internship. Here, Palash learned a lot: he worked on the asset management system (AMS), designed websites, developed block video, built automatic mail generation etc. Completely dedicated to his work, Palash was the only one in his team to persist in the quest to know about and master Microsoft SharePoint, a relatively new technology in India. His last project was on campus management for an American University. Humble to the core, he contributes his success to a very supportive team and the constant encouragement from his senior project manager. Today Palash earns 10,000 rupees a month and looks forward to growing with the company. He feels that the entire NIIT team helped him to achieve beyond his dreams. His mother is over the moon that her youngest, the one she thought had the least chances, is doing so well and soaring beyond anything she had ever hoped.
