OVERVIEW OF THE STRATEGIC PROJECT
supports
The IMI PQ NET Project supports the European Commission on the development of "Internal Market Information System (IMI), through:
carrying out support activities in this regard, at national level, building a network for social partners (government agencies and organizations, professional associations, civil society organizations);creation of adequate working tools and procedures for mutual consultation, to facilitate efficient communication of the Romanian competent authorities with similar organizations in the European Union and European Economic Area through IMI.

Overall objective
“The creation and the strengthening of the Romanian IMI Network for Professional Qualifications (IMI PQ NET), to support the European Commission's initiative regarding the development of the Internal Market Information System”:
undertake support activities at national level, to strengthen the capacity of social partners to actively participate in the exchange of information through this system;
creation of adequate working tools and procedures for mutual consultation, to facilitate effective communication with similar organizations in the European Union and European Economic Area (EEA) through IMI Computing platform.
Project objectives
Our goals are :
to promote the exchange of information between the competent authorities via IMI PQ NET network;
to support the exchange of information between members about legislative news from the recognition of qualifications and their application;
to ensure the transfer of expertise for each area of competence and to give access to multiple resources;
to facilitate the exchange of experience and know-how among members of the network through comparative studies at European level for the benefit of IMI PQ NET network.
Target group
420 persons representing:
Social partners personnel;
Civil society organizations members;
Sectoral committees staff;
Professional associations staff.
With these qualities:
a) representatives of competent authorities (CA);
b) in charge of certification / standards / qualifications / training in CA;
c) members/staff of the CA that will have user account in the IMI PQ platform.
Benefits for the Romanian Authorities
The competent authorities from the Network IMI PQ NET Romania will benefit from:
information, training and advisory/counselling services to increase the capacity and the skills to perform analysis on legislation, regulation for the provision of training, validation and certification of competences;
training for the most efficient use of IMI;
support for the formalized partnership in the Network IMI PQ NET Romania, for the development and active involvement in the network;
participation in/to various conferences, meetings, thematic workshops;
development of standard reference terms and certification procedures for validation and recognition processes of qualifications, skills recognition of qualifications;
exchange of best practices.
Transnational Approach
Exchange of experience in other EU Member States on the current situation regarding the use of IMI system (availability of data for the exchange of requests for information);
Create comparative studies regarding the situation in other EU Member States, in order to establish some procedures on data management in the field of professional qualifications;
Participation of national coordinators at/to annual thematic conferences organized through/within the project.

Actions undertaken
March 2011 – Establishment of the Technical Secretariat Office of the Romanian
Network IMI PQ NET which aims to provide a help-desk service by providing
information to competent authorities who need technical support by phone or on-line;
April 2011 – Official launch of the project in the presence of 120 participants
representing government agencies and organizations, professional associations and civil
society organizations and one stake – creation of a national network of competent
authorities for recognition of professional qualifications.
Actions undertaken
Sending the Protocols of cooperation to Romanian authorities to be signed by their
representatives (from May 2011);
IMI PQ NET First Working Group Meeting (23-25 June 2011);
Organizing two study visits in autumn 2011;(UK and Italy)
Organizing the first series of workshops in September 2011;
Auditing the procedures and processes within the Romanian authorities, relating to
the management of qualifications.
