What is Oracle BI Publisher?

Oracle BI Publisher is a reporting technology to manage, Author, and

deliver all the reports in an easy and faster than traditional way.

It can also be defined as:

Oracle BI Publisher is a java based product of Oracle, Available with

the technology of Siebel's, EBS, JD Edwards and BI Enterprise Edition

(OBIEE) etc,.

At first Oracle XML publisher was designed as a reporting technology. It was designed to solve the reporting problems faced by the Oracle Applications. This was first released with Oracle E-Business Suit in 2013. This is integrated with several oracle Products. When XML Publisher became a part from Business Intelligence(BI) then it was renamed as Oracle BI Publisher.

LayoutOracle BI Publisher supports several layout template types like RTF,

PDF, XSL, excel, Flex, e-text etc. BI Publisher Layout Templates are

generated using the BI Publisher Layout Editor, which is a design tool

that provides a drag and drop interface for creating pixel perfect

reports in Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, RTF, and HTML. It also provides

dynamic HTML output that supports lightweight interaction through a

browser.

The BI Publisher Layout template provides the following features:

1. To the end user view Dynamic HTML output and to perform

lightweight interaction with their reported data within a

browser.

2. Generate high fidelity, pixel perfect reports to Excel,

PowerPoint, PDF, RTF, and static HTML.

The data model editor in the Oracle BI Publisher enables the users to

create their own report data models. The data model editor enables

the user to combine data from multiple data sets from different data

sources, such as Web services, HTTP feeds, Excel files, SQL, and

other applications into a single data structure. These data sets can

either be unrelated or a relationship can be established between

them by using a data link.

1. A single data model can be used to create multiple data

reports.

2. A Microsoft Excel sheet can be used to create a data set in BI

Publisher using a Data Model Editor.

Data Model

Translation is the process of transferring the data in one form to

other. This can be done in two ways.

1. Creating a separate RFT that is translated.

2. Creating an XLIFF file from the original template.

The first one is used if the translated template layout is differing

from Original template. The second one is used to translate the

textual data in the template layout.
