Client
A Fortune 500 publishing firm based in
the US, well known and recognized for its
exceptionally high standard educational
resources and publications. These
learning resources were used by millions
of students across universities in more
than 100 countries.
Background
The client primarily sold print books and
provided online content, related to the
books, as add-ons. The online channel
was used as a differentiator in the books
business & the focus was purely on selling
more books in the print media.
Problem
While the undisputed leader in print, the
client lagged behind younger competitors,
specializing in online learning systems.
With the current generation of students
growing up in the age of internet, online
content was the medium of choice
compared to print. The client risked
obsolescence unless it offered students
more online content and decreased its
dependence on print.

New Business Model – Our solution enabled
the client to pursue a new revenue stream in
the e-Learning market. Though online contents were initially meant as secondary resources to
print media, the eLearning products now have
become the future of the organization.

Solution
Tarams designed and delivered a feature
rich Course Management System on the
cloud, targeting the instructor & student
communities. We enabled this system to
leverage the wealth of in-house as well as
3rd party content through seamless
integration. The platform would also be
capable of publishing content across media
including web, desktop and mobile.
We also integrated this system with a
customer registration & purchase platform
(built by Tarams), so that instructors &
students could access course content easily
through a one-time registration process.
The system had an intuitive look-and-feel,
rich multimedia & collaborative learning
tools to enhance the ease & quality of
teacher-student interaction. Currently, Tarams supports this system rolling out
new product features while supporting the
client’s technology team in maintaining it.
