INTRODUCTION
Terrorism is something which all over the world is a major problem at the
moment. A common definition of terrorism is the systematic use of threatened use
of violence to intimate a population or government for political, religious or
ideological goals. Terrorism in India, according to the home ministry, poses a
significant threat to the people of India. Terrorism found in India includes ethno-
nationalist terrorism, religious terrorism, left wing terrorism and macro terrorism.
The regions with long term terrorist activities have been Jammu & Kashmir, East-
central and south -central India and the seven sister states. Terrorism means the
policy of striking terror in the minds of the people by violent methods to achieve
some ends. It is a law of the jungle to use muscle power and force to get things
done . people who are disgruntled and who are unable to get their desires fulfilled
by normal and accepted methods in society are resorting to terrorism. Some other
causes for which terrorism is resorted to may be genuine like protest from people
to come out of bondage or fight for freedom.
TERRORISM
Terrorism has now become an international phenomenon. There are
terrorists in developed and advanced countries as well as developing countries like
India. We must find out the reasons for emergence of terrorists. There has been
exploitation of the weak and the poor for centuries by the rich and the powerful.
Terrorism is not confined to any area or activity; it is finding its place in the
elections conducted in our country to elect members to legislatures and parliament.
Governments all over the world are doing their best to put an end to
terrorism. There are a few who encourage and support terrorism in other countries
to meet their own political ends. The U N O also is unable to completely eliminate
this evil, even though it is able to contain it. But use of violence to check violence
is not a permanent solution. Its effects are very much that it can deteriorate a
country’s economy and can cause between the countries. Terrorists were not born
nor they were made in the name of religion.
Terrorism is in different forms in various countries. We saw the brutal attack
on Twin Tower on September 11 in U S A and did we not cry even though we
were in different country. We saw people struggled and lost their lives right in frot
of our eyes and could do nothing which eventually led to attack in Afghanistan by
U S A to demolish Mullah Omar’s regime. The attack on our own Indian
parliament was also one which again checked our patience. We were always united
and doing action like these will make us even more unite and fight more strongly
than ever against it.
CONCLUSION
None of the religion preaches terrorism nor ask the followers to take the
lives of other people but it was preached by wrong leaders and innocent people fall
as a prey and lose their lives and kill other people as well. The only remedy to this
evil appears to be the diagnosis of the root cause for each act of terrorism and if
there is a genuine reason behind it, it is better to concede the demand. If terrorism
is based on issues which are immoral and not acceptable, the sure and powerful
weapon against it appears to be non-violent “Satyagraha” introduced by Mahatma
Gandhi. Terrorists don’t understand that by acting in the name of terrorism, they
are bringing disgrace to their own religion and at the same time ruining their own
country and people and when they are not more, hardly they could realize the
damage they have done if and if we have another life or the so called spirits, these
people will realize and make this world a safe and a peaceful place to live.
