ON-SITE SECURE HARDWARE DESTRUCTIONSims Recycling Solutions’ customized service travels to your site to physically destroy data bearing electronics. Specialized NSA approved machinery physically destroys hard drives by bending, breaking and mangling the hard drive and its internal components. The data platters are bent and separated from the hub, the hard drive housing is cracked, the PC board is broken and the read/write heads are mangled. Damaged hard drives are securely transported to a Sims Recycling Solutions facility where the hard drives are shredded into pieces. Physical destruction guarantees that your hard drive is no longer useable.

ASSET MANAGEMENT & CERTIFICATESSims Recycling Solutions can record serial numbers of all materials destroyed to provide comprehensive reporting. Additionally, a certificate of complete destruction will be provided for your records.

On-Site ServicesOn-site ServicesOn-site data capture and auditing OF assets This service compiles a comprehensive list of electronic assets on site to ascertain what hardware and software is being disposed of. This allows your company to appropriately sign off equipment from the asset register, whilst giving IT managers information on software licenses available for reallocation or deletion. It also allows the Lifecycle Services proposition to work with you to discern the most appropriate disposal strategy.

On-site data erasure The Lifecycle Services proposition operates Blancco Data Cleaner (BDC). Using specialist rigs, brought to your site, we are able to securely destroy the data on up to 1,000 hard drives a day. BDC is approved to the HMG IA Standard No. 5 (Issue 3.1, October 2009), the most stringent data destruction standard in the world, it also complies with US Department of Defense standards.

On-site data erasure using BDC is also available in remote sites anywhere in the world using the Lifecycle Services proposition’s Remote Site Service.

On-site degaussing A portable degauser is also available to ensure data is destroyed on hard drives and data-tapes. This uses very powerful electromagnetic fields to destroy all data on a magnetic storage device.

On-site secure hardware destructiOn This is a dedicated service that travels to your site to physically destroy data bearing items such as compact discs, data-tapes and hard drives. An 18 tonne truck houses this specialist machinery that can granulate the above assets down to flakes less than 6mm in size. Ensuring the secure destruction of any data and allowing you to witness the destruction, if necessary.

This service can be combined with a secure media bin. Allowing you to safely collect and store data bearing items until it becomes cost-effective to call in the shredder service.

data centre decOmmissiOning A combination of the above services allows the Lifecycle Services proposition to provide the complete and secure decommissioning of large storage arrays or of complete data centres. Full reporting is available on the decommissioning process from data and hardware destruction to an inventory of all materials removed from site.

LOgistics Once the data or hardware has been securely destroyed at your site, Sims Recycling Solutions will transport it directly to one of our processing centres. We operate a policy of ensuring the vehicle is fully accompanied for the duration of the journey. All vehicles are GPS tracked and where necessary we can provide a “no-stopping” policy.
