AFCS Board PresidentMrs. Astorga received her Social Work Master Degree from Fordham University. Presently she works as Renal Social Worker. She brings to this agency many years of experience in direct service and education with adults and children. Maternal care and child health. Family planning. Education and Social Work field instructor for adults and Para-professionals. Finally she is a lecturer in Social Work Practice.

The “123 Anger Management Program” (This workshop will be conducted in
English & Spanish on Saturday’s only)
If you are experiencing distress, anxiety, guilt, shame, or you get easily irritated causing you
problems in interacting with others or someone you loved / liked, and you can not control your anger and this is happening frequently, most
likely you are beginning to suffer some kind of psychological signs of anger. In order to identify
these signs you may take this anger management course that last eight (8) weeks.

Programa “123 del Cuidado de la Ira”
(Este taller será conducido en Ingles y Español los sábados solamente)
Si Ud. esta experimentando aflicción, ansiedad, culpa, vergüenza o rápidamente se irrita que le
esta causando problemas en sus interacciones con otros o con alguien que ama / aprecia y no puede controlar su cólera y esto le pasa frecuentemente;
probablemente esta empezando a tener ciertas señales psicológicas de cólera. Para poder
identificar estas señales, Ud. puede tomar este programa que durara 8 semanas consecutivas.

The “123 Anger Management Program” will be offered to parents, caregivers, and anyone who feels their anger has caused problems with others by learning how to promote the benefits of self-growth and understand one’s thinking, and behavior that causes troubles in relationships or in
raising a child.

The “123 Anger Management Program” (This workshop will be conducted
in English & Spanish on Saturday’s only)
This course will help improve skills in the following areas: Communication skills and
listening; manage your stress, your judgment, and impulse control; learn
empathy and what causes your emotional distress; how to forgive those who have
harmed you, and how to improve self-talk and the ability for better performance.

The National Coalition against Domestic Violence (DV) defines as a pattern of behavior used to establish
power and control over another person through fear and intimidation, often including the threat or use of violence, when one person believes they are entitled
to control another.

Our 10 weeks “Domestic Violence (sometimes called domestic abuse) or Family Violence”
workshop will be offered to parents, caregivers, and anyone who feels that are suffering from Domestic Violence (DV). During the course of
the program, we will learn about DV, types of
abuse, safety plans, effects of DV on Children, signs of
domestic violence, etc…

Nuestras 10 semanas del seminario de la "Violencia Doméstica (a veces llamado abuso doméstico) o
Violencia Familiar" está orientado a padres, personas de cuidado, y demás personas que sienten que
sufren de la Violencia Doméstica (VD). Durante el curso del
programa, se aprenderá diversos temas sobre la (VD),
los tipos de abuso, planes de seguridad, efectos que causan en los niños, los signos de la violencia
doméstica, etc.…

This DV program is also appropriate for those batterers who needs to learn, read
and practice, and often have low self esteem, rush in to relationships, are
excessively jealous, use negative behaviors (drugs, alcohol, battering) to
cope with stress, and/or have poor communication skills, etc...

enfrentarse con el stress/tensión, o tienen pocas habilidades de comunicación, etc....

The AFCS Domestic Violence Program “Peace UP and Violence DOWN.”
This program will be offer in English & Spanish on weekdays only. The English program will begin on Tuesday January 12th, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00
PM and the Spanish program will begin on Thursday, January 14th, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00
PM. Both courses are open all year around (anyone can begin anytime). A Certificate of
Class Participation will be issued at the end of the program completion.

Este programa es ofrecido tanto en Ingles como en Espanol (Castellano.) El programa de Ingles comienza el martes, Enero 12 del 2,010 a partir de las 7:00 PM a 9:00 PM y el programa de Espanol comienza el jueves,
Enero 14 del 2,010 a partir de las 7:00 PM a 9:00 PM. Nuestros programas de Ingles y
Espanol están abiertos todo el año (los participantes pueden empezar en cualquier
momento.) Al final del programa se les otorgara un certificado de participación.

El programa “123 del Cuidado de la Ira” esta siendo ofrecido a padres, personas que proveen cuidado, y a miembros de la comunidad quienes sienten que
la cólera o ira le esta causando problemas con otros. Durante este seminario Ud. aprenderá como
promover los beneficios de un desarrollo propio, entender sus pensamientos y demás
comportamientos que le causan problemas en sus relaciones personales o criando niños.

Este programa le ayudara a mejorar sus habilidades en: Destrezas de la
comunicación, manejar la tensión, su juicio y su control de impulso; aprenderá empatía y

mejor funcionamiento.

working adults. In order to ensure a successful acquisition of the Spanish language
our teaching techniques utilize a communicative approach, and encourage the active participation and involvement of the

We offer Citizenship classes for individuals that wish to become an American Citizen, and also this program qualifies for people
who recently arrived to America. This program is bilingual (English and Spanish) and the objectives are:
Prepare the future Citizen of this nation in the old and new immigration oral, and writing test. This program, also qualifies for those individuals that prefer to give in their native language (Spanish).
Learn your rights and responsibilities, and avoid further errors, confusion, and/or misunderstanding of your basic rights that stated under the US Constitution.

We offer Citizenship classes for individuals that wish to become an American Citizen, and also this program qualifies for people who recently arrived to America. This program is
bilingual (English and Spanish) and the objectives are:
Expand your knowledge about the American History, and become skilled at how the US Government works.
Learn how to pass the Immigration interview and analyze the require documents needed, common barriers and taboos about the USCIS test (Former INS), and review the 100 valid immigration questions.
We also help to fill out the N-400 form and many others forms.
