How the mass media effect our lives.

1. Role and effect of mass media As a term “mass media” is used since

the era of 1920. term to explain the types of MEDIA

( Television, Newspaper, Magazine, radio, and website).The effect is complex personally and

society, short term and long term.Media form a point of view.Media shows how the life’s standard is. Media is persuasive.

1. Several views, trends and life styles

Liberalism, a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality.

Communism, a classless, moneyless, and stateless social order structured upon common ownership of the means of production, as well as a social, political and economic ideology and movement that aims at the establishment of this social order.

Capitalism, an economic system in which the means of production are owned by private persons, and operated for profit are up to private sectors.

Socialism, an economic system that maintains (fundamentally) general wage equity and shared employment (not referring to enterprise ownership as inclusive of shared, private, and state).

Democracy, a form of government in which all eligible citizens participate equally—either directly or through elected representatives—in the proposal.

Neo-liberalism, a political philosophy whose advocates support economic liberalizations, free trade and open markets in modern society.

Fundamentalism, the demand for a strict adherence to orthodox theological doctrines usually understood as a reaction against Modernist theology

Pluralism, a conceptual model that argues that the best form of a political system is one in which recognition is given to a large number of competing interest groups.

Materialism, the theory of materialism holds that all things are composed of material, and that all emergent phenomena (including consciousness) are the result of material properties and interactions.

Consumerism, It is the philosophy of buying stuff for the sake of buying stuff.

Individualism, A theory maintaining the political and economic independence of the individual and stressing individual initiative, action, and interests

Hedonism, a school of thought that argues that pleasure is the only intrinsic good.

conclusion Critical thinking towards mass media and ideologies should not make us disembarrass from the impact of the world but make us remain while nurturing faith.

The basic and consequences of critical thinking is self courage to involve in the world. The courage to disembarrass whatever pleasant in life then follow Jesus ( meaning of discipleship).

Critical thinking has 3 basic process:

1.Self-centering on universal values

2.Emphasize on public development ( selfless)

3.Perfect life concern ( directed to God)
