Nikon Corporation is a multinational corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in optics and imaging.

Nikon is one of the companies that comes under precision machinery section of the Mitsubishi Group (A Japanese conglomerate consisting of a range of autonomous businesses which share the Mitsubishi brand, trademark and legacy)

The Mitsubishi group of companies form a loose entity, the Mitsubishi Keiretsu. In general all these companies descend from the zaibatsu of the same name. Nikon is one among the top 25 companies which are members of the Mitsubishi Kin'yōkai, or "Friday Club“ that meets monthly.
