The Native Bush
HYPOTHESISWe predict that if we take away the forest
floor layer that the effect would be, that the
worms will have nowhere to live and birds
would have nothing to eat.
We also predict that if we take away the
forest floor the insect would not be able to
produce the food for the forest floor.
Also, the new shrubs can’t make brand new
trees. Also, if we remove the forest floor
there would be less soil for the trees to grow.
The soil has the water and all the nutrients
to help the trees grow.
On the forest floor you can see worms, wetas, ants kiwis and other birds.
Where would the insects live if we removed the forest floor?
The insects would die from exposer from wind, sun and dust.
What would the birds eat if we removed the forest floor?
Berries ,corn, rice and other fruit.
What lives on
the forest floor.
Layers of the
Forest.There are 5 layers of
the forest emergent
sub,canopy ,canopy
, understorey layer
and the
Forest floor
The Forest Floor
In the forest floor there are shrubs ,seedlings and leaf litter. The next is the understory layer which has smaller trees ,flax and ferns .then the sub canopy layer ,which also has a pigeon wood tree and a kanuka tree. The next layer of the forest is the canopy is the which has rimutawa ,rewamiro, hinau, metal, ramahi.the last layer is the Emergent that has tall trees which are kahikatea and rimy.
conclusionWe predict that take away
the forest floor there would
be less places for insects to
live and the insects would
not be able to produce food
for trees.
