Press statements

DCSF 10 January 2008 – All parents will get regular electronic

reports on their children's progress in future – going far beyond the traditional annual school report, Schools Minister Jim Knight announced this week.

14 October 2008 – 14 year olds will no longer be required to sit Key Stage 3 tests, but will be assessed through ongoing teacher assessment throughout the key stage, with regular real-time reports to parents; teacher assessments at 14 will continue, as now, to be published at the national and local authority level;

Issues

Easing the burden: Automatic publication of data already in the school’s

MIS

Identity (and security) Use pupil and parent identity and relationship data

already in the school’s MIS

Wider environment Provide other tools to engage parents

Digital Divide?

Part of the solution

MIS-based portal Automated publication of data Use of relationships in MIS to ensure parent only sees

the data about their child(ren) Web environment (SharePoint) provides other

opportunities for engagement, e.g. surveys, calendars, online forms, etc.
