2. The ancientlegends tell usthat first there was only CHAOS. 3. Then from CHAOS came MOTHER EARTH and FATHER SKY. 4. The children of EARTH andSKY were the TITANS. 5. The TITANS were as tall and strong asmountains. They ruled the world 6. Until. 7. A Titan named RHEA missed her childrenso much that she ignored THEPROPHECY. THE PROPHECY foretold that some day, Rheas husbandCHRONOS, the king of the Titans, would be defeated by one of his own sons. 8. To prevent the prophecy from coming true, CHRONOS devoured all of his children as soon as they were born. Like their parents, the babies were immortal, but they remained trapped insideCHRONOS. 9. RHEA tricked CHRONOS into thinking a rockwrapped in a babys blanket was her sixth child. 10. With CHRONOS unsuspecting, RHEA was able tohide her baby son, ZEUS, from his father. 11. ZEUS was raised in a far-off cave by a magical goat, and he grew just as strong as his TITAN parents. 12. RHEA told ZEUS about his brothers and sisters that CHRONOS had swallowed. ZEUS wasfurious, and began a war with his father. ZEUS grandmother,MOTHER EARTH,told him the secret to gain the power ofLIGHTNING, whichno Titan had ever seen. 13. With the weapon oflightning, ZEUS defeated his father and the titansthat fought with him. 14. He freed his brothers andsisters from their captivity inside CHRONOS belly. 15. And together these newIMMORTALS ruled the world in place of the TITANS. 16. So the ancientlegends tell us.
