This portfolio summarizes what I’ve learned in Educational Technology.

Hello! I am Gizelle Sarmiento Rabanes, a resident of Buna

Lejos, Indang, Cavite, an 18-year old Third Year Student of Cavite State University, Indang Cavite

pursuing Bachelor of Secondary Education with specialization in

Mathematics.

Educational Technology is a field which consists of the designs and the environment that engage the learners. This is concerned with the use of educational methods and resources for supplementing human learning. It is a field of study which makes the teachers realize their mission to educate the students and help them become what they dream and aspire to become.

The 21st century learners are Information Technology or Digital Learners but we should admit that teachers today still generally use the traditional educational program and they fail to realize that this century’s students’ interests are in the use of technology. So, to enhance the teaching and learning process and to make it more effective, there is a need for technology integration.

the schools today can inculcate the digital fluencies, resulting in superficial and mediocre learning skills of new learners. In the instructional process, there is a shift from teacher-centered to student-centered learning, the new teaching paradigm most appropriate for learning in a digital age.

Through technology, we are provided with the easier ways to communicate with other people. We now use telephones and smart phones, and wit the Internet, we communicate through Yahoo mails, Facebook messenger, Twitter, and other social media sites.

Learning through Educational Technology helped me understand the importance of integrating technology into teaching and learning. It helped me adapt to rapid and continuing technological changes, particularly in the thriving global information and communication technology (ICT) environment. It also helped me in developing and supplementing my technological knowledge and skills which enabled me to use advanced teaching and learning resources and materials effectively.

Educational Technology introduced to me the computer programs and educational sites which helped me enhance my learning strategies and gave me ideas on the effective teaching strategies that I may use in the future. This course taught me which references are to be trusted and which ones are to be avoided in relation to the information’s reliability.

Lastly, this course has provided me with the opportunity to experience using and evaluating computer-based educational resources. As a future educator, it encouraged me to engage on practical technology integrated issues including managing IT classrooms.

Educational Technology 2 is concerned with “Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning”.

After completing this course, I became able to extend my knowledge and skills on computers and other technology-related matters. Now, I have a deeper understanding about what technology advancements can bring into the teaching and learning process and how it helps in managing a more interactive learning environment.

This course helped me enhance my knowledge and skills in computer technology. I became aware of the things that I can do best with technology.

Studying Educational Technology provided me with an explanation of the importance of being a computer-literate, especially to teachers and future teachers.
