Education is the water to a blossoming future. Not only does education entail academics, it includes experience, imagination, self-reflection and intuition. In my opinion,
the overall goal of education is to access and share knowledge, and to encourage students to have a desire for learning. This desire to learn can constantly be fed with
new materials and information.

Introduction to Standard A
A good instructional plan allows a teacher to have a structured and organized classroom, academically and behaviorally. In preparation for teaching my classes, I create a lesson plan that is based on a couple of the Massachusetts Department of Education curriculum frameworks. At the end of each unit I create an essay, test, or project, to formally assess whether students have learned the material. I differentiate by accommodating each class’s work, according to different cognitive levels.

Introduction to Standard B
Effective instruction is the key to student learning. Using a variety of instructional strategies allows students to be more involved and interactive in their learning. When students are active in their learning, it is easier to achieve and set certain goals for success academically. Before starting a lesson it is important to list the agenda for the day.
I employ certain organizational strategies to frame my learning objectives. For example, on many of my assignments, I will provide a rubric so that students can understand what I expect on their work. Distributing a list of how I will grade the assignments constantly creates a pattern that the students soon get use to and expect. Finally, I will access the students’ work and determine the level of mastery and modify my instruction accordingly.

Introduction to Standard C
Variety is important when teaching students. A repetition of the same type of lesson everyday can cause students to disengage and begin to become disruptive, or may cause them to lose any motivation to work. My lessons shift between group work, slide shows, student presentations, reading out loud, discussions, and other ways to get the students interested and involved in the lesson. Sometimes standing in front of the room and lecturing cannot be avoided, but the constant switch between different activities can be effective in not boring students. Along with picking current and relatable materials to teach, getting students involved in a lesson can make them feel important and comfortable.

Introduction to Standard DWhen planning lessons I keep in mind that each student has a
different setting at home. Some students do not have all the resources needed to complete a homework assignment. Therefore, I would modify the assignment or lesson for these students by giving that student time during the school day to come and use the resources given by the school. For assignments that have to be typed, I allow students that do not have a computer at home to submit their homework hand-written instead.
Every student in the class is encouraged to achieve their best through different ways. Each student can access their grades online in order to see their progress or set a plan towards getting a better grade. Also, certain assignments are graded on the students’ effort rather than accuracy to encourage each student to try their hardest.

Introduction to Standard E
As an incoming teacher I understand my professional responsibilities in and out of the classroom. I consult with my supervising practitioner to constantly receive advice on improving my instructional skills. I attended certain workshops that expressed appropriate use of school equipment and technology and my civil responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
