Music Video Analysis Ahpex Twin – Come To Daddy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-9UvrLyj3k Comment on the following aspects in relation to your music video choice. How will these techniques appeal to the target audience needs? Target Audience & Needs I believe that the target audience for this music video is teens/young adults, as the story line appears to be a short horror film – meaning it may be aimed at people who are strong horror film fanatics. Throughout the video a certain theme runs throughout. Because of the run down, urban and lifeless setting and the choice of costume for the actors/actresses, the music video may be aimed at an audience who enjoy supernatural and inhumane topics. Also, I don’t think the video is aimed at a certain gender or ethnicity. Lyrics (Meaning Implied?) The lyrics are quite basic as they just consist of the same sentences “I want your soul, I need your soul” and “come to daddy”, which is implying that a certain message is being put across towards the audience as it is a repeat of the same words throughout the song. Tempo The tempo is fast, heavy and aggressive. It is aggressive as the main singer of the band screams and shouts the lyrics of the song which gives off a dark and forceful vibe. Genre The genre of the video is a narrative, as it is telling a story of supernatural events happening on a derelict complex. The costumes of the characters are paranormal as there are a group of young girls with the faces of men, and their leader which is some sort of demonic creature. The props in this video are bits of rubbish and household possessions which have been dumped on the street which shows the audience that the area isn’t well maintained and even appears to be lifeless. An example of a prop is a television which is the main focus of the video, as the demon is trapped inside it and is released near to the end.

Camera Technique There are a variety of camera techniques used throughout the video, such as close ups, POV shots, medium shots, establishing shots, still shots and panning shots. Many camera techniques have been used as it is a very fast pace music video.

Editing Cutting of shots is used frequently as it fits in with the fast rhythm of the song.

Use of Digital Effects A dark theme runs throughout, with the uses of colours such as black, grey and blue. Also the video itself appears to have a faded affected on it to make it seem unfocused in certain shots.
