POSTER ANAYLSIS: THE FAULT IN OUR STARS Main image: The main image in the poster is of a teenage boy and girl in very close proximity to each other to show they are in love and that the movie is a love story. The clothes they are both wearing are fairly plain. The characters are lying on the ground which makes the picture interesting and they appear to be very happy so this movie would attract a large female audience. The girl in the image is wearing a cannula and her hair is very short which suggests that she might have a medical condition like cancer. Main image: The colour scheme is mostly blue and whit and this might be because this movie was adapted from a book and that was the colour scheme of the book front cover. The main image also has a lot of colour but they are subtle, natural colours which are quite relaxing. The blue and white title is placed over the darker part of the image so it contrasts and is easily visible. Text: There isn’t a lot of text on this poster, maybe so as not to distract from the main image. There is some text at the top which says it was based on a bestselling book and this attracts the attention of lots of people and makes them want to see it as they now know it is based on a good book so it will probably be a good movie. The biggest, most prominent text is the bit at the bottom middle which must be the title of the movie, it’s called ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ which is a ambiguous so it makes people want to see the movie to find out more. The slogan underneath says ‘one sick love story’ which makes it clear to the audience that it is actually a romance but that there’s a twist as one or both of them are sick. Credits: There aren’t really any credits on this poster except a small 20 th century fox logo at the bottom left.

Colour scheme: The colour scheme for this poster is blue, pink and grey

which I think works well as the colours compliment each other. The blue and

grey are quite dark which might relate to the dark themes the movie includes

and the pink might just be to make the poster stand out more.

Main image: The main image in this poster is of 3 young men in formal, posh

clothing who appear to be walking. 2 of them are looking directly into the

camera and the one on the right is looking straight ahead. The angle of the

shot is from below, looking upward which signifies that they are very

powerful and important which reflects the film. Their clothes also suggest

that they are rich. The picture is quite dark and it’s almost black and white,

with just some tones of blue and this also relates to the film as it is quite a

dark film which hints at some black and white morals. The guys’ poses are

kind of regal and they look very self-important and all of them have a slightly

mean facial expression.

These words hint at the dark themes that will be explored in the movie. Above the title there is some small pink text that

says ‘From the Award Winning Director of One Day and an Education’ which makes people who liked those movies want to

see this one and it Also suggests that it will be a well done movie as it was directed by an award winning director. The small

pink text below has the names of the main stars of the movie so people who like these actors will be more likely to watch this

movie, and all of the stars are British because it’s a British independent film. There are a lot of credits at the bottom of the

poster in really small grey text so most people probably wouldn’t read it but it includes thing like the director, the distributor,

the studio, the production company and the logos of some of the companies involved in this movie.

Text: The biggest text is the title ‘The Riot Club’ and it is in pink so it’s very bright and the font is blocky and bold to make it stand out. The title doesn’t expain much about the story so tis makes you want to watch it. The 2nd

biggest text is the slogan at the top which says ‘Filthy. Rich. Spoilt. Rotten.’ which is the same font as the title but it’s a bit smaller and it’s grey so that it can be visible over the white sky.
