MOOC Project - Main stages

Document objective : this document presents a generic work plan that can be used to lead a MOOC project. Note that it is a macro view suitable formost MOOC projects and that the detailed work plan must be defined and adapted to a particular project. Indeed, there are many form of MOOCs andso, many ways to manage its production.

Design and initiate the mooc

This stage mainly focus on the detailed pedagogical design. but this step also introduces other lines of action regarding technical aspects and communication.

Pedagogical design

Lesson plan (scenario) -sequential organization of various educational resources (learning contents, activities, support resources…)

Animation plan – list of actions planned to animate the community (newsletter, forum moderation, live, social network…)

Technical design

MOOC Platform – choice of the platform and initialisation of the MOOC learning environment

Communication

Graphical charter - the graphics and sound identity of your MOOC that must be followed in all media/resources

Communication plan – list of actions and contacts that will help to make your MOOC well-known.

Teaser (text and video)

Production of the mooc

Production plan (schedule) - production planning of resources including quality control actions. The set of actions depends on the kind of resources and technical choices.

Realization Control integration

Performing a test session – this activity is essential to assure the global consistency of the MOOC and to anticipate potential problems.
